Blog Plan Part 1: Deleting my facebook

I deleted my Facebook. For the entire summer.

Yes. You read that correctly.

I know. It seems absurd at first; after all, how am I going to contact people on a surface level while they post cliche quotes with the tag "Teenage Girl Truths"?

I have heard from many people that I am a positive Facebook presence. Which is great, and I love that. I really do. But in the end, no matter how positive a presence you are, many online forces can be negative.

In addition to all that, Facebook is a time suck.

Let me break it down for you. If someone were to take a picture of our family in Italy at lunch, it would not be the peppy faces with the gourmet food porn you are so jealous of.

No. It would look more like this:

We do have our reasons though. For anyone who has been outside of the country or anywhere that your cell phone absolutely does not work, you may know the feeling.

For us, the restaurant's wifi is the one glorious trait per exhausting day that we use connect to the rest of the world that is not our family or the other humans/tourists we interact with who for some reason do not have a proper understanding the glorious absurdity of How I Met Your Mother references.

(Sure, Facebook doesn't always understand it either, but at least I can get a few scattered likes out of it.)

I'm sure you're thinking: Wonderful Rivi! You are going to interact with the beautiful country at all hours including lunch time. That freaking amazing place you are way too lucky to get to visit and also can I sneak into your suitcase I'm really not kidding I can fit...

Well, no.

But I am going to document it for you to live vicariously!

Basically, what I am saying is that the time I would've been on Facebook, I will instead be blogging.

Wow, that took way too much time and way too many gifs to say.

Oh well. That being said, don't expect this kind of awesomeness in every post. I have a glorious vacation to experience as well!!!

So please, live vicariously through this blog. And don't look for me on Facebook, because I'm not there.

With Love from San Rafael,
Rebecca "Rivi" Dollinger
Also Shayna, Marci, and Marc Dollinger
